When we begin or think of dieting and improving our nutritional daily value it is often we will start by cutting all snack, desserts and sweets from our dietary plans. It is a good idea to slow down on high calorie sweets that provide pure pleasure yet no nutritional value.

A tried recipe for low-calorie strawberry cheesecake will use low-fat yogurt and strawberry jam and is a quick and easy recipe to follow.

Heat oven to 350°. Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick spray.
● Lite nonstick cooking spray
● 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs or vanilla wafers - crushed
● 1 tbsp light butter, room temp (real butter is best for weight loss)
● 8 oz package low-fat cream cheese, room temp
● 1/4 cup sugar (or Splenda)
● 6 oz fat-free Greek yogurt - vanilla (much thicker than generic yogurt)
● 2 large eggs - whites only
● 2 tbsp lemon or lime juice
● 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
● 1 tbsp flour
● 1/4 cup strawberry jams (sugar free jam or fresh strawberry puree)
Mix graham crackers or wafers with butter - press into pan
Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Fold in fat free yogurt, egg whites, lemon juice, and flour. Spoon over graham cracker crust.
Smooth jam by stirring repeatedly. Drop small spoonfuls over cheesecake. Using a spoon or knife, make light swirls in the jam.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes and test the center and remove when almost set. Let the cheesecake cool to room temperature or refrigerate before serving.
